• Article ID
    • The record number the article or file is stored under in the database.
  • Category
    • The area of the knowlegbase where the reader will find the article or file.
  • Status
    • Whether an article is published, unpublished, or waiting for approval.  Published articles can be read in the public view, but unpublished and pending articles can only be seen when you are in the admin area.
  • Role
    • Users can be assigned "roles", which then control which articles they see in the knowledgebase.
  • Public View

    • This is the 'reader' view of the knowledgebase that people see. The user does not have to log in to see the public view, although they may have to log in to read articles if you have set your knowledgebase up that way.
    The alternative view is the Admin Area. Users must log on to see this, and they must hve admin, moderator, editor, author or contributor access.

  • MD5 format
    • An encryption format used for passwords.
  • Article block
    • The action block in the top right-hand corner of the article that you see when you are viewing an article.
  • Document root
    • Web server directories start at what is called the document root (or default directory). This is where you put your home page.
  • Privilege
    • Controls user access.
  • Admin area

    • The part of the knowledgebase where you do administrative tasks such as create articles, manage users and design the site. Users must log on to see this area, and they must have administrator, moderator, editor, author or contributor access.
